Nasi Lemak is a popular national food in Malaysia and Melissa is innovating it by turning it into ice cream.
Nasi lemak ice cream is not really new in Malaysia as I’ve tasted it before at an ice cream shop in Paradigm Mall near Kuala Lumpur. Suprisingly, I like it.
This time around, Melissa captured the attention of local media when she made her own version of nasi lemak ice cream which is branded under Skream Softserve.
There’s no rice with the ice cream but the main condiments such as peanuts, anchovies, ‘sambal’ and cucumber are served together with the nasi lemak ice cream.
Based on her interview with Bernama, lemongrass and coconut milk are used to make the ice cream, in order to make the taste as nearest as possible with the original nasi lemak.
She’s selling it for RM10 per cup, which is almost 4 times more than a real nasi lemak.
I have yet to try her version of nasi lemak ice cream, but will be the first to try once it’s available in KL.
