MaGIC Accelerator Program is now Known as Global Accelerator Program

MaGIC’s Accelerator Program (MAP) is now known as the Global Accelerator Program (GAP) and the team is committed to set new benchmarks for this program.

Since 2015, Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC), a Malaysian government agency under the Ministry of Finance of Malaysia has ran three batches of accelerator programs in Malaysia and helped accelerated more than 200 companies to-date.

This year, it will continue to run this flagship program which is also known as the biggest accelerator program in Asia.

What is Global Accelerator Program (GAP)?

Previously known as MaGIC Accelerator Program (MAP), the Global Accelerator Program or short for GAP is a program to accelerate 80 global startups to be investment-ready in 4 months, and to build a strong startup community.

The program will be held at MaGIC’s Campus in Cyberjaya, a Global Tech Hub located around 30 minutes’ drive South of Kuala Lumpur.

The application will be opened on 3rd March 2017 and MaGIC is looking to bring in 80 global startups looking to grow their businesses in ASEAN for the July 2017 intake.

ASEAN is an abbreviation for Association of Southeast Asian Nations which consist of 10 countries – Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, The Philippines and Cambodia.

Through this program, GAP participants will be able to focus on product refinement and user acquisition,

Just like MAP, startups are able to learn from world-class mentors through MaGIC’s extensive network and will have direct access to route-to-market partners.

Meanwhile, foreign participants will get a visa to enable them to stay in Malaysia for the whole duration.

All participants will be getting a monthly stipend of RM1000 (approx. US$220), return flights capped at certain amount, accommodation near the MaGIC campus and a cool working space with access to fast internet.

Startup benefits worth over USD400K are also available for startups to enjoy.

What are the main requirements to join GAP?

As mentioned earlier, this program is opened to startups from around the world looking to grow in the ASEAN market.

Startups with 1-2 team members must be able commit to the full time program (4 months).

The product or service offered by startups must be market ready with already some traction. It also needs to be highly scalable with large growth potential.

What’s the Program Structure for GAP?

Each month has a different theme covering topics such as understanding current trends in ASEAN, how to measure your startups metrics, developing the right culture and preparing for your killer pitch.

A full detailed program list is shown here.

At the end of the program, startups are given the chance to pitch at the demo day in front of regional and global investors.
